How I’m building a smarter way to combine MyFitnessPal, Garmin, and Recovery Data
Jul 7, 2025

… and why more data isn't the answer — clarity is
I’m not short on data.
Garmin gives me pace charts, power zones, HRV trends, sleep scores, and training load.
MyFitnessPal shows every gram of carbs I’ve eaten.
Zwift tracks my efforts to the second.
But for all of that, I kept finding myself asking the same question:
“So… what should I actually do tomorrow?”
That’s not a data problem. It’s a clarity problem.
What I needed wasn’t more tracking — it was a signal.
One insight. One clear takeaway.
Something that says:
“You’re adapting well — stay consistent.”
Or:
“Recovery is down, fueling is low — ease up today.”
I didn’t need ten charts to get there.
I just needed one message that made sense.
So I started connecting the dots manually.
I’d paste meal logs into a notes app / MyFitnessPall.
Check Garmin for HRV.
Open two more apps for sleep and load.
Try to figure out why a session felt harder than it should have.
And even when I found a pattern… it was slow, clunky, and definitely not scalable.
That’s when the idea for Athlin became real.
Athlin is a second brain — not a replacement coach
It’s not trying to plan your week. It’s not your calendar.
It’s your filter. Your post-session clarity.
Athlin connects to the tools you already use, reads the signals, and gives you a daily summary of what actually matters.
Type | Tools (Planned) | Purpose |
---|---|---|
Training | Garmin · Apple Watch · Zwift · Wahoo | Understand effort & load |
Nutrition | MyFitnessPal · Fitatu · Yazio | Track fueling & energy balance |
Recovery | Whoop · Oura · Apple Health | Monitor readiness & adaptation |
Plans | TrainingPeaks · Final Surge · CSV Import | Spot plan intensity + fatigue risk |
What that looks like day to day
Imagine opening your phone and seeing:
“Yesterday’s session was solid. Carb intake and recovery were on point. You’re adapting well — keep going.”
Or:
“Fueling was low and HRV dropped. Consider adjusting today’s intensity.”
That’s it. One insight. The right one.
No copy-pasting logs. No guesswork. No overload.
Built for athletes who live full lives
I’m not building this for elites with unlimited time.
I’m building it for people like me — founders, parents, triathletes — who care about training smart, not just training hard.
If you’ve ever opened five apps and still didn’t know whether to push or rest… I think you’ll get what I’m building.
